Position: Business Development Manager
Location: Mumbai/Hyderabad
Department: Business Development / Sales
Experience Required: 48 years (preferably in diamond, jewellery, luxury goods, or B2B technical services)
1. Role Overview
The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth by identifying new business opportunities, expanding the client network, and promoting the laboratorys diamond and jewellery grading services. This role requires a strong industry understanding, networking capabilities, and the ability to build trusted relationships with jewellers, manufacturers, traders, and retailers.
2. Key Responsibilities
New Business Acquisition
Identify and approach potential clients including jewellery retailers, wholesalers, manufacturers, exporters, and diamond traders.
¢ Conduct client visits, presentations, and product/service demonstrations.
¢ Convert leads into long-term clients and drive consistent business growth.
¢ Explore new markets and industry segments for expansion.
¢ Client Relationship Management
¢ Maintain strong relationships with existing clients to ensure retention and satisfaction.
¢ Act as the primary point of contact for client queries, service support, and escalations.
¢ Conduct regular follow-ups to ensure timely service delivery and payment collection.
¢ Strategic Planning & Market Expansion
¢ Develop and implement growth strategies tailored to industry needs.
¢ Identify emerging trends, competitor offerings, and market gaps.
¢ Provide strategic recommendations to management for improving services or pricing.
Sales Performance & Reporting
¢ Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual business development targets.
¢ Prepare sales reports, progress updates, and market insights for the management team.
¢ Track business metrics using CRM tools or spreadsheets.
¢ Brand Promotion & Networking
¢ Represent the company at trade fairs, exhibitions, events, seminars, and jewellers meets.
¢ Develop a strong professional network within the jewellery ecosystem.
¢ Collaborate with the marketing team for promotional campaigns, social media content, and branding.
Internal Coordination
¢ Coordinate with grading, logistics, and operations teams for smooth service execution.
¢ Ensure clear communication regarding client requirements and timelines.
¢ Support cross-functional projects that enhance business efficiency.
3. Required Skills & Competencies
¢ Strong business development, negotiation, and networking skills.
¢ Industry knowledge of diamonds, jewellery, certifications, and grading standards (preferred).
¢ Strong analytical and presentation skills.
¢ Ability to work independently, meet targets, and manage time efficiently.
¢ Proficiency in MS Office, CRM platforms, and communication tools.
¢ Professional, confident, and customer-focused.
4. Qualifications
¢ Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Commerce, or related fields.
¢ Prior experience in diamonds, jewellery, luxury products, or B2B services is strongly preferred.
¢ Gemmology certification (like GIA/IGI/FGA) is a plus but not mandatory.
