Job Role: Buyer - Executive

About Role:

The ideal candidate should have procurement experience in Amino Acid, Premix, API, Vitamin, or Mineral-based companies, or from Pharma, Chemical, Nutraceutical organizations, and other Vitamin/Feed Additive manufacturers.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Procurement Planning & Execution

• Manage procurement of vitamins, additives, and functional ingredients for animal feed and allied businesses.
• Prepare and manage annual procurement budgets and ensure adherence to spend norms.
• Perform spend analysis, inventory optimization, and rejection control using ERP and analytics tools.
• Lead vendor negotiations, finalize pricing, payment terms, and incoterms to ensure best commercial outcomes.

2. Strategic & Global Sourcing

• Identify and onboard reliable global and domestic suppliers to ensure uninterrupted supply and quality compliance.
• Conduct continuous market research and cost benchmarking for raw materials and additives.
• Explore new molecules, alternate sources, and category innovations to improve cost and performance.

3. Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with R&D, Nutrition, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, and Regulatory teams to align sourcing with business needs.
• Evaluate supplier capabilities and ensure technical and quality compliance of sourced materials.

4. Import Operations Management

• Manage end-to-end import processes, including vendor communication, documentation, CHA coordination, and customs clearance.
• Ensure compliance with FSSAI, BIS, GMP, DGFT, and other regulatory norms.
• Collaborate with logistics and CHA partners to ensure timely and efficient material movement.

5. Market Intelligence & Risk Management

• Track global market trends, forex, freight, and commodity movements to support sourcing decisions.
• Implement risk mitigation strategies for key ingredients and supply disruptions.
• Travel extensively (1015 days/month) for vendor development, audits, and market assessments.

6. Supplier Relationship Management

• Build and maintain long-term supplier partnerships based on performance and reliability.
• Drive vendor evaluation, onboarding, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance sourcing competitiveness.

Key Competencies:

• 4 to 9 years of experience in API Procurement.
• Strong technical understanding of vitamins, amino acids, additives, bioavailable minerals, and nutraceutical ingredients (e.g., Choline Chloride, Betaine).
• Proven experience in global and domestic sourcing of APIs, AIs, specialty chemicals, nutraceuticals, or feed additives.
• In-depth knowledge of import documentation, customs, and global trade compliance.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP/Oracle), Excel, and data analysis tools.
• Familiarity with FSSAI, BIS, GMP, HACCP, and related quality frameworks.
  

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelors in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Veterinary Science, Agriculture, or related technical field.
• Preferred: Postgraduate degree or certification in Supply Chain, Procurement, or International Business.
• Experience: 4 to 9 years, preferably in Animal Nutrition, Feed, Food, Pharma, or Nutraceutical industries.
