Transport Planner

Job Description

We are seeking a qualified Transport Planner with between 5 to 7 years experience to join our Transport Planning and Strategic Advisory Business Unit in the Middle East. The candidate must be a degree-qualified professional with a minimum of 3-5 years of traffic engineering, transport planning and traffic modelling experience in the Middle East.

• This role requires contributing to a variety of transport planning studies including large scale transport master plan assessments, traffic impact studies or multi-disciplinary planning projects in the public and private sectors.

• Understanding of transport planning, traffic engineering and travel demand theory.

• Project experience in the Middle East and familiarity with local transport planning standards and practices.

• Practical understanding of the role and importance of transport planning in development access and citywide mobility plans.

• Experience in undertaking junction analysis to support the traffic impact assessments.

• Contribute to preparation of reports including existing conditions analyses, trip generation, junction analysis and parking assessments.

• Must be able to communicate in English effectively, both written and spoken.

• Must be able to learn and retain new skills quickly from a variety of sources.

• Must be able to work with limited supervision.

• Some experience project/financial management.

• Competence to assist in growing the Atkins Transport Planning Business as well as to sell Atkins services generally.

• Bachelor s degree in civil engineering or equivalent is a must.

• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in traffic engineering and transport planning with Operations and Maintenance project exposure.

• Knowledge of Middle East and International Transport Planning standards and procedures.

• Has worked within a team.

• Master s degree in transport planning or equivalent field is desirable.
