Tableau Developer and Configuration Specialist

Job Description

Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tableau Developer and Configuration Expert to lead the end-to-end development, configuration, and maintenance of Tableau dashboards across multiple departments. The ideal candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, data owners, and IT teams to deliver scalable, insightful, and performance-optimized dashboards that support strategic decision-making.

Education: Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or related field.

Experience: Candidate should have 04+ years of experience in Analytical tools like Tableau/ Power BI

Certification: Tableau certifications (e.g., Desktop Specialist, Data Analyst, Server Certified Associate) preferred but not mandatory.

Knowledge:

1. Minimum 4 years of total experience including 3+ years of handson experience on Tableau dashboard development and configuration.
2. Strong proficiency in SQL, data modeling, and data visualization principles.
3. Experience with Tableau Creator, Explorer, and Viewer roles.
4. Familiarity with Tableau Server/Online administration and licensing.
5. Experience integrating Tableau with PostgreSQL, Excel, APIs, and other data sources.
6. Exposure to Power BI is a plus.
7. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

1. Dashboard Development:

a. Design, develop, and deploy interactive Tableau dashboards and visualizations based on business requirements.
b. Translate complex data sets into meaningful insights using advanced Tableau features (LOD expressions, parameters, calculated fields, etc.).
c. Ensure dashboards are intuitive, user-friendly, and aligned with visualization best practices.

2. Configuration & Administration:

a. Configure Tableau Server/Online including user roles, permissions, data source connections, and scheduling.
b. Manage data extracts, live connections, and performance tuning of dashboards.
c. Implement row-level security and access controls based on user roles.

3. Collaboration & Requirements Gathering:

a. Work with departmental SPOCs to gather reporting requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
b. Collaborate with data engineering teams to ensure data availability, quality, and integrity.
c. Participate in stakeholder meetings to present prototypes and gather feedback.

4. Sustenance & Support:

a. Provide ongoing support for existing dashboards including enhancements, bug fixes, and performance improvements.
b. Monitor dashboard usage and optimize for performance and scalability.
c. Maintain version control and change management documentation.

5. Training & Documentation:

a. Create and maintain technical documentation, user guides, and SOPs.
b. Conduct training sessions and workshops for end-users on dashboard usage and self-service analytics.
