About the Role

Superform Chemistries is seeking an accomplished Senior Scientist – R&D (Synthesis) with over 15 years of experience in specialty chemicals research. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in organic synthesis, process development, and new molecule creation, contributing to our growing portfolio of advanced specialty chemicals.

This role is critical in leading strategic innovation projects, driving complex synthesis programs, mentoring teams, and developing commercially scalable chemical processes for diverse applications.

Key Responsibilities

1. Research & Innovation

• Lead and execute advanced organic synthesis projects for development of new specialty chemical molecules and intermediates.
• Design innovative synthetic routes with focus on yield optimization, purity enhancement, and cost efficiency.
• Evaluate and incorporate emerging technologies, catalysts, and methodologies in synthesis.

2. Process Development

• Develop labscale processes and translate them into pilotscale and commercial manufacturing.
• Identify and resolve challenges related to reaction kinetics, process safety, scalability, and raw material variability.
• Work closely with process engineering teams to ensure seamless tech transfer.

3. Technical Leadership

• Mentor and guide junior scientists and research associates in experimental planning, mechanism understanding, and data analysis.
• Lead troubleshooting efforts for ongoing production and support crossfunctional teams (Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain).

4. Project Management

• Manage multiple R&D projects simultaneously with a focus on timely execution and innovation excellence.
• Prepare project documentation including experimental records, reports, safety assessments, and IP disclosures.
• Coordinate with business and marketing teams to align research deliverables with market needs.

5. Compliance & Safety

• Ensure adherence to global safety standards, environmental regulations, and internal R&D protocols.
• Drive implementation of best practices in laboratory safety, waste handling, and chemical management.

Required Skills & Expertise

Technical Skills

• Deep understanding of organic synthesis, reaction mechanisms, catalysis, polymer chemistry, and advanced analytical techniques (NMR, HPLC, GC, MS).
• Proven experience in process development and scaleup from lab to commercial production.
• Expertise in designing multistep synthetic routes and handling complex chemistries.
