Job Description
Senior Lead Engineer Electrical Projects
Main Purpose
Sr. Lead Engineer- Electrical - Projects shall be responsible for all Electrical System activities on the Project. He shall be responsible for project management, budget control, engineering, interface management, support to construction, facilitating commissioning of all power generation and other electrical systems, trouble shooting and steady state support. He shall be responsible for obtaining statutory approvals from DGMS, Electrical Inspector.
Job Accountabilities (duties and responsibilities).
- Conceptual, basic, FEED and detailed engineering of electrical system
- Power generation planning including load estimation, selection of power source (grid, CPP, etc.).
- Budget preparation and control
- Ensure compliance project objectives
- Manage complete procurement cycle from vendor qualification, MR, TBE, TR, vendor document review, manufacturing, FAT and SAT
- Coordinate with Procurement and Logistics team for on-time delivery of Project materials to site.
- Coordination with Engineering Consultant and Vendors for finalization of engineering deliverables.
- Electrical power system study
- Construction power supply planning and implementation
- Visits to engineering consultants offices for engineering supervision, visits to vendor premises for manufacturing follow-up and FAT, Visits to Site for construction follow-up / testing commissioning and handover of systems to O&M.
- Interface management with subsurface team for surface facility design, ROU team for power distribution network design.
- Engineering interface management, inter-disciplinary co-ordination for various packages and equipment.
- Supporting O&M in testing, commissioning of systems, ensuring troubleshooting of systems and supporting O&M in steady state activities.
- Prepare Project close out and Technical capitalization reports
Skills Required (Knowledge and Skills)
- Should be well conversant with applicable National (IS) and International standards IEC, IEEE, NFPA, API, OISD, etc. for the selection, specifying, design, manufacturing, testing and commissioning of Electrical systems.
- Should be conversant with electrical power system study (short circuit, load flow, relay coordination, harmonic, motor starting, etc.) including various software like ETAP, etc.
- Should be conversant with electrical equipment sizing, selection, power generation configuration, load shedding and islanding systems, grid connectivity, CPP operation in various operating modes (island, grid parallel), etc.
- Should be conversant with power electronics equipment like UPS, VFDs, soft starters, thyristor control systems, etc.
- Should be conversant with hazardous area classification and selection of equipment
- Should be conversant with supply codes, grid connectivity, metering codes, power tariffs, etc.
- Should be conversant with the review of engineering documents like SLDs, P&IDs, Plant and equipment layouts, cable schedule, data sheets, Logic and control diagrams, wiring diagrams etc.
- Should have cross discipline function knowledge Process, Piping, Instrument, mechanical.
- Should be conversant with SCADA, DCS, PLCs, FGS,
- Should be familiar with the following:
- Applicable statutory codes and requirements in Oil and Gas/Petrochemical Industry
- Electricity Act, CEA guidelines, OISD, DGMS requirements, etc.
- HSE rules and guidelines
- Should be capable of team development
- Should possess excellent oral and written communication skills
- Should possess analytical thinking and problem solving skills.
Qualification:
Candidate should be graduate engineer (BE/BTech) from recognized University in Electrical Engineering.
Experience:
Experience of 15 to 20 years in Oil and Gas / Petrochemical .
Candidate should have worked on Concept, FEED and detail engineering of at least one project in Oil and Gas / Petrochemical.
