Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Production Manager to plan, supervise and lead end-to-end operations in our lubricant and grease manufacturing plant. The ideal candidate will be responsible for production planning, blending operations, filling and dispatch management, process optimization, quality compliance, plant coordination, and manpower management while ensuring adherence to safety and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

Production Planning & Execution

• Plan, organize, and control daily lubricant blending, grease manufacturing, filling, and packaging operations in line with sales forecasts and dispatch schedules.
• Prepare monthly blending and filling plans to ensure smooth production flow and timely order fulfillment.
• Monitor production targets and ensure optimum utilization of manpower, machinery, and raw materials.
• Coordinate with head office, marketing, QC, R&D, maintenance, and supply chain teams regarding production priorities, indents, and dispatch planning.
• Minimize production downtime through effective troubleshooting and preventive action planning.

Plant Operations & Process Management

• Supervise batch processing, blending operations, packaging lines, and dispatch coordination.
• Support plant optimization and expansion initiatives, including new plant setup and process enhancement projects.
• Drive operational efficiency initiatives to improve productivity, reduce wastage, and optimize manufacturing costs.

Quality Assurance & Technical Coordination

• Ensure strict adherence to SOPs, ASTM standards, IS standards, ISO norms, and internal quality systems.
• Track inspection and testing of raw materials, base oils, additives, packing materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
• Maintain quality consistency through formulation optimization and blending studies.
• Support OEM product development initiatives as per technical specifications and customer requirements.
• Prepare for internal quality audits and ensure compliance with calibration schedules for laboratory and testing instruments.

Inventory, Procurement & Dispatch Coordination

• Oversee monthly raw material and packaging stock status and manage coordination with procurement teams for timely replenishment and production continuity.
• Ensure timely coordination with suppliers and transporters for inbound and outbound logistics management.
• Ensure dispatches are executed within defined timelines and customer commitments.
• Maintain a complete overview of operational entries on order and batch-wise raw material, inventory and finished goods on company ERP software - Oodo.

Team Leadership & Workforce Management

• Lead and supervise production operators, technicians, supervisors, and contract workforce across shifts.
• Ensure proper manpower allocation and maintain shop-floor discipline and productivity.
• Build a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
• Coordinate cross-functionally with QC, maintenance, procurement, stores, supply chain, marketing, and technical departments.
• Train and guide production personnel on SOPs, quality practices, safety protocols, and operational efficiency.

Safety, Compliance & Documentation

• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and statutory regulations applicable to plant operations.
• Maintain production records, MIS reports, stock reports, rejection reports, audit documentation, and process records.
• Investigate customer complaints in coordination with the marketing and technical teams and implement corrective actions.
• Support ISO audits and maintain documentation as per quality management standards.

Required Qualifications

• Qualification: B.E./B.Tech (Chemical/Mechanical Engineering) or M.Sc. Chemistry / Diploma in relevant discipline
• 8 to 10 years of work experience in lubricants/greases/oil & gas or chemical manufacturing
• Strong knowledge of lubricant blending processes and plant operations
• Hands-on experience in handling bulk production and filling lines
• Familiarity with ISO standards, safety practices, and audits
• Experience working with ERP systems - SAP or Odoo preferred

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of base oils, additives, lubricant and grease formulations
• Experience with automated/semi-automated blending systems
• Lean manufacturing / Six Sigma knowledge
• Ability to manage multiple operational priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
