Job Description
Position: Production Line Manager
Reports to: GM
Department: Production (Modular/Board Furniture Office Furniture dominant)
Timing from 8 am to 6 PM
6 Days working
MustHave Skills & Experience
- 1520 years in modular/office furniture (board)
- Strong in DFM, cutlists, routing, fixtures/jigs, and tolerance management for casegoods.
- Proven production planning & line balancing; OEE/OLE, yield improvement.
- Expert in inprocess QC, FAI, NCR/CAPA, and packaging QA.
- Leadership: builds discipline, escalates early, communicates crisply.
Role Mission
Own the endtoend delivery of the Modular (Board) Furniture linefrom design validation and DFM to firstarticle approval, mass production, quality control, ontime dispatch, and snag closurewith tight daily reporting and zerosurprise execution.
Scope of Control
- Processes: Beam saw Edge banding Drilling/Routing Hot/Cold Press Subassembly Final assembly Packing QC Dispatch
- Products: Workstations, desks, storage, partitions, meeting tables, pedestals, office panels
- Teams: Line supervisors, operators, helpers, inprocess QC, packers (all shifts)
Key Responsibilities (EndtoEnd Ownership)
1. Design & DFM Validation
- Run Design Validation (DV) Gate: verify fit, form, function, stability, and fastener logic; confirm hardware spec and alternates (with R&D).
- validate panel sizes, EB thickness, drilling coordinates.
- Approve BOM & routing signoff golden sample and FAI (firstarticle inspection) with QC.
2. Industrialization & Change Control
- Freeze process plan (fixtures/jigs, templates, drill programs, EB settings).
- Maintain ECO (engineering change order) discipline; ensure version control across drawings, BOM, and labels.
3. Production Planning & Delivery Dates
- Convert sales/dispatch plan to weekly & daily MPS with PPC; publish committed delivery dates.
- Balance loads across machines and shifts; ensure >85% machine uptime and takt adherence.
4. Quality Control & Compliance
- Define inprocess checkpoints (cutting, EB, drilling, assembly, packing).
- Enforce spec sheets (gaps/flushness, squareness, finish, torque values, cycle times).
- Close NCRs within SLA; drive CAPA and recurrence prevention.
- Ensure packing integrity and drop/transport tests as applicable.
5. People & Daily Management System
- Upskill operators (toolbox talks, SOP refreshers); manage overtime and skills matrix.
- Enforce 5S + safety; perform weekly audits with Maintenance & QA.
6. Reporting & Reviews
- Daily: output vs plan, RFT (rightfirsttime), rework/rejects, downtime, shortages, NCR/CAPA status.
- Weekly: OEE, productivity, yield, cost/variance, ontime dispatch %, open snags list with ETA.
7. Snag Management (ZeroDefect Mindset)
- Maintain Snag Register (by project/store/customer).
- Assign owners and ETAs; ensure sitefeedback closure 5 working days.
- Run rootcause reviews for repeating snags; roll corrective actions into SOPs.
8. Maintenance & Tooling
- Execute PM calendar (beam saw, EB, drill, press) with Maintenance.
- Maintain critical spares and tooling life logs; prevent stockouts.
- Escalate breakdowns; protect schedule with alternate routing when needed.
