Product Design Engineer Data Center, Power and Telecom Rack

Job Description

Role & responsibilities

Design and develop data center racks, enclosures, and related mechanical systems
Create 3D models, detailed drawings, and BOMs using CAD tools (SolidWorks & AutoCAD)
Perform structural analysis, load calculations, and thermal considerations for rack systems
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, electrical, supply chain) to ensure design feasibility
Work on prototyping, testing, and validation of designs
Support new product development (NPD) and continuous improvement initiatives

Troubleshoot design issues and implement corrective actions

Preferred candidate profile

Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Proven experience in designing data center racks or sheet metal enclosures
Strong proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks / AutoCAD)
Knowledge of sheet metal design, fabrication processes, and materials
Understanding of thermal management and airflow in rack systems
Familiarity with industry standards (19-inch racks, cable management, power distribution integration)
Experience with DFMEA, GD&T, and tolerance stack-up analysis

Good problem-solving and analytical skills
