Principal Consultant Nature Positive & Biodiversity

Lead and grow a purpose-driven ecology practice
Full time / part time

The Alluvium Group is an employee-owned, multidisciplinary consulting group founded in 2006 to help industry, governments and communities tackle complex environmental and societal challenges.

We bring together expertise across biophysical sciences, engineering, ecology, economics, policy and social research to deliver integrated, evidence-based advice that bridges the gap between science, policy and on-ground implementation.

Our ecology work focusses on landscape-scale environmental strategy, design and advisory services, helping businesses and government address complex challenges such as biodiversity loss, habitat fragmentation and climate change.

We are seeking an ecological leader based in Mumbai with a background in Biodiversity Management and Nature Positive Planning.

About the role

This is a unique role for a well-connected ecologist who can drive business development, build client relationships and deliver high-impact projects. This role combines strategic ecological thinking at landscape scale with the ability to translate this into practical, project-level solutions.

You will:

• Lead the development and delivery of biodiversity and nature positive projects in India and internationally
• Build and maintain relationships with industry, government and development partners
• Identify and pursue opportunities aligned with nature positive and biodiversity strategy
• Advise clients on achieving biodiversity and nature positive outcomes under changing environmental and economic conditions
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to ecological staff
• Contribute to Alluviums strategic direction, culture and growth

About you

You are an established ecological consultant with strong networks in India.

• Have 15+ years experience in ecology, biodiversity or environmental consulting
• Have expertise in nature positive frameworks, biodiversity strategy and ecosystem management
• Can operate across scales—from landscape strategy to site-level application
• Are confident leading business development and client engagement
• Have experience delivering multidisciplinary projects
• Are entrepreneurial, proactive and self-driven
• Want to work on meaningful environmental outcomes at scale
