Piping Engineer

EDUCATION:

Degree in Mechanical Engineering/Chemical Engineering/Piping Engineering

Additional specific experience, and certifications in expertise areas are preferable.

EXPERIENCE OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

6-8 years of relevant post-qualification experience in reputed Engineering Companies with some exposure to manufacturing in Oil Gas/Petrochemical sectors.

• Develop piping and Valve material specification for process and utility piping.
• Update existing piping and Valve material specification based on change request from site/EPCM.
• Perform pipe spec calculation for pipe wall thickness, branch selection, service rating chart etc.
• Develop data sheet for piping special item such as strainer, steam trap, hoses, flame arrestor, insulating gasket, Expansion bellows, special pipe fittings etc.
• Develop piping Material requisition for Piping Valves, bulk items, special item, special pipe supports etc.
• Prepare/ Review specification for insulation, painting inspection testing.
• Develop work package for piping fabrication/construction activities.
• Review of vendor documents and technical bid evaluation.
• Prepare piping MTO for estimation as well as purchase.
• Develop pipe spec library in 3D software like Plant 3D, E3D, S3D.

• Develop piping design basis for Basic Engineering Detail Engineering projects.
• Develop list of piping deliverables in basic Engineering Detail Engineering.

• Review of Piping Engineering deliverables received from Engineering contractor in Basic Detail Engineering stage.
• Develop piping layout considering operational, maintenance safety requirements.
• Develop piping tie in package.
• Review of 3D model and conduct 30%, 60% 90% model review.
• Knowledge of relevant codes standard like ASME, API MSSP.
• Knowledge of Europian codes standard will be an added advantage.
• Quality control of Piping Documentation.
• Knowledge of piping Stress Analysis.
• Should have Excellent communication skills and should have participated in International projects.

Additional required Competencies:

• Should be proficient in Piping Material Engineering however should have basic knowledge about piping layout, Stress analysis 3D design.
• Should have detail knowledge on piping rerating activities.
• should be able to handle the challenges during interface of 3D tool and Material database.
• should have detail knowledge about piping and valve material specification.
• Should have detail knowledge about piping codes standard for design, layout, Material installation.
• Have detail knowledge about piping Inspection testing requirements for various piping materials.
• Should have basic knowledge about Piping stress analysis
