Job Description
This position specializes in examining eyes for vision problems, prescribing corrective lenses. detecting eve diseases, and providing treatment or referrals for further care. The role is critical in maintaining eye health, diagnosing issues, and ensuring the best possible patient outcomes.
DUTIES AND PONSIBILITIES: OPD
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments including history taking, visual acuity tests, refraction, torch light examination, slit lamp examination, and tonometry.
- Manage OPD operations alongside doctors and Vision Technicians (VTs), ensuring
- smooth patient flow. Troubleshoot and provide counseling for patients regarding their vision concerns.
- Maintain records of medicines including opening dates and expiry dates.
- Ensure SOPs are followed for NABH accreditation in the department.
- Diagnostics
- Perform diagnostic tests such as FFA, B-scan, OCT, A-scan, HVF, Pentacam, Specular Microscopy, and Fundus Photography.
- Maintain detailed records of diagnostic equipment.
- Coordinate with the biomedical team for equipment requirements.
- Prepare rosters for VTs for diagnostic test posting
- Low Vision & SNVC OPD
- Manage patients with visual disabilities, providing visual rehabilitation and therapy.
- Counsel patients and their families for functional enhancement, education, and employment opportunities.
- Maintain records for low vision aids and provide training.
- Outreach
- Maintain data for diabetic patients and manage research-related outreach data
- Participate in out reach programs for community eye care and awareness, extending services to underserved populations and promoting eye health
- Education Programs : Serve in Education by planning and conducting academic and clinical training for AOPS. Develop curriculum and assessments, ensuring they align with the required standardy for optometry education. Coordinate with faculty for workshops and training programs.
- Monitor trainee performance and provide feedback for continuous improvement
- Vision Center Operations :
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Vision Center, ensuring efficient patient care and service delivery.
- Conduct eye exams, including vision testing, refraction, and other diagnostic procedures, specifically for Vision Center patients.
- OFT SK Provide consultations for patients, offer corrective lens prescriptions, and advise on appropriate eye care solutions.
- Supervise and train staff and Vision Technicians in vision center operations, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
- Promote the center's services to the community, focusing on preventative eye care and vision health awareness.
- Collaborate with the medical team to address complex cases, making referrals as necessary.
- Research Collaboration :
- Engage in research endeavors with doctors, contributing to advancements in optometry and eye care. Participate in ongoing studies and provide support for research-related tasks. Other Tasks Perform any other tasks or duties as assigned by the Reporting Officer from time to time.
