Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Description

Role & responsibilities:

Mechanical Design

Lead mechanical design of UAV subsystems and payload interfaces using 3D CAD tools (preferably PTC Creo).
Develop system layouts, CAD models, and scalable design architecture.

Composite & Manufacturing

Design using carbon, aramid, and glass fiber composites with understanding of manufacturing processes.
Ensure DFM/DFX, material selection, and manufacturability.

Tooling & Assembly

PLM & Documentation

Manage design data through PLM systems (Windchill preferred) including revisions and change management.

Structural Design

Work with analysis teams on FEA interpretation, load conditions, and structural optimization.

Additive Manufacturing

Utilize 3D printing technologies (FDM, SLA, SLS, MJF, DMLS) for prototyping and production parts.

Collaboration & Validation

Work with engineering, testing, and manufacturing teams to ensure design maturity and V&V compliance.

Root Cause Analysis

Skills & Qualifications:

Bachelors / Masters in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
8+ years in mechanical product design (aerospace, UAV, or robotics preferred)
Expertise in 3D CAD (Creo preferred), GD&T, and TAD
Experience with composite materials and aerospace structures
Familiarity with PLM systems (Windchill preferred)
Exposure to FEA, DFM/DFX, and advanced manufacturing
Experience with 3D printing and rapid prototyping
