Job Description

Core Mission:

To lead the assembly floor in the creation of highly customized, world-class Screen, Pad, and Dry Offset printing machines. You will transform one-off designs into "Masterpiece" machines that meet European/Japanese standards of precision, aesthetics, and reliability ensuring that even a unique, custom-built machine looks and functions like a standardized global product.

Role & responsibilities:

A. High-Precision SPM Execution

  • The "Prototype" Mindset: Lead the mechanical assembly of one-off machines, anticipating design gaps and solving technical hurdles on the fly without compromising the machine's integrity.
  • Global Aesthetic Standards: Enforce a "Zero-Jugaad" policy. Ensure the finish, fastener selection, routing, and mechanical fitment meet international benchmarks (German/Japanese level).
  • Testing & Validation: Act as the Lead for Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT). Personally verify that the mechanical registration and accuracy meet the specific requirements of the rigid packaging order.

B. Project Orchestration (Agile Scheduling)

  • Dynamic Planning: Create weekly assembly schedules that account for the unpredictability of SPM builds. Ensure the floor can pivot quickly when custom parts arrive or design tweaks are made.
  • Multi-Project Management: Simultaneously oversee 510 unique orders at different stages of the build, ensuring no project is "forgotten" and resources are allocated based on delivery deadlines.
  • Integration Sync: Coordinate with the Electrical and Software leads to ensure the mechanical build is ready for their specific custom-coded modules exactly when needed.

C. The "Feedback Loop" to Design

  • DFA (Design for Assembly): Since every machine is different, you must provide immediate feedback to the Mechanical Design team to ensure the next custom build is easier, cleaner, and faster to assemble.
  • Standardization of the Unique: Identify common sub-assemblies across different "one-off" machines to help the company build faster despite the custom nature of the products.

D. Shop Floor Leadership & 5S

  • Elite Environment: Implement 5S to ensure the assembly floor looks like a high-tech lab, not a traditional workshop. This is vital for customer visits and high-precision work.
  • Checklist Discipline: Develop custom checklists for each unique machine build to ensure no small detail (common in one-offs) is overlooked during the final crunch.

Preferred candidate profile:

  • 12-15 years in SPM (Special Purpose Machinery). They must be comfortable with "Engineering-to-Order" environments where no two days are the same.
  • A Mechanical Engineer who has likely worked in a German or Japanese MNC in India, or a top-tier Indian SPM firm that exports globally.
  • Expert-level drawing reading, precision measurement, and a deep understanding of how mechanical tolerances affect printing registration.
  • A "Problem Solver" who doesn't get frustrated by unique challenges, but rather enjoys the "puzzle" of a new machine build.
