Role Overview
We are looking for a Lead Design Engineer – HVAC with strong experience in marine or shipbuilding projects. The role involves leading HVAC system design, preparing layouts and detailed drawings, and ensuring proper integration with other ship systems using Cadmatic and Aveva Marine tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead HVAC design activities for shipbuilding and offshore engineering projects.
- Develop and review HVAC layouts, duct routing, equipment placement, and detailed production drawings.
- Perform load calculations, duct sizing, and selection of HVAC equipment.
- Create and manage 3D models using Cadmatic and Aveva Marine software.
- Ensure compliance with marine standards, class rules, and project specifications.
- Coordinate with piping, electrical, structural, and outfitting teams for proper system integration.
- Conduct design reviews, resolve technical queries, and support project execution.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and designers.
- Support production teams with technical clarifications and necessary design updates.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- 5–8 years of relevant experience in HVAC design, preferably in shipbuilding, offshore, or industrial projects.
- Strong proficiency in Cadmatic and Aveva Marine.
- Good understanding of ventilation systems, air conditioning design, duct routing, and equipment selection.
- Familiarity with marine HVAC standards, class rules, and shipbuilding practices.
- Strong analytical, coordination, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively in a team environment.
