Job Purpose

To lead and oversee housekeeping operations across all Inpatient Department (IPD) areas, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, infection prevention, patient comfort, and regulatory compliance. The role is responsible for maintaining a safe, healing, and patient-centric environment through effective supervision of housekeeping personnel, adherence to NABH/JCI standards, and coordination with clinical and support departments.

Key Responsibilities

1. Supervise housekeeping operations across all assigned IPD areas, including wards, private rooms, suites, nursing stations, lounges, isolation rooms, and patient corridors.
2. Ensure cleanliness, sanitation, and presentation standards are consistently maintained throughout patient care areas.
3. Conduct daily rounds and inspections to monitor housekeeping quality, room readiness, washroom hygiene, odor control, and patient comfort.
4. Ensure timely cleaning, disinfection, and replenishment of patient rooms during admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
5. Monitor and ensure compliance with infection prevention and control protocols, including terminal cleaning and isolation room cleaning.
6. Coordinate with Nursing, Infection Control, Facilities, and Patient Experience teams to address housekeeping-related concerns.
7. Ensure proper segregation, handling, and transportation of biomedical and general waste as per regulatory requirements.
8. Maintain housekeeping equipment, cleaning tools, carts, and supplies in operational condition.
9. Respond promptly to housekeeping service requests and patient complaints, ensuring timely resolution.
10. Monitor linen handling practices, storage standards, and coordination with laundry services.
11. Ensure adequate deployment of housekeeping staff across shifts to support operational requirements.
12. Maintain housekeeping logs, checklists, audit records, and statutory documentation.
13. Support VIP patient preparation and room readiness activities while maintaining confidentiality and service excellence.
14. Participate in emergency response situations including spill management, outbreak response, disaster management, and deep cleaning initiatives.
15. Ensure compliance with all hospital safety standards, fire safety regulations, and environmental hygiene requirements.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Necessary: Graduate in Hotel Management, Hospitality Management, Facility Management, Healthcare Management, or related discipline.

Desirable: Diploma/Degree in Housekeeping Management, Infection Control, Facility Management, or Hospitality Operations.

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

Necessary: 8 – 12 years of housekeeping experience in hospitals, large healthcare facilities, premium hotels, or institutional environments, including at least 3 - 5 years in a supervisory/lead role.

Desirable: Experience in NABH/JCI accredited hospitals and management of outsourced housekeeping workforce.
