Job Overview
- Industries is seeking a skilled Senior Engineer to support end-to-end product development of our furniture portfolio.
- This role will focus on translating concepts into detailed engineering solutions, validating prototypes, and ensuring smooth transition into production.
- The Senior Engineer will work closely under the guidance of the Lead Engineer, contributing technical expertise in wood-panel construction (particle-board, MDF, plywood), joinery detailing, and production feasibility.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Core Area
Deliverables
Product Engineering & Detailing
- Prepare and release detailed engineering drawings, 3D models, BOMs, and joinery details. Ensure manufacturability of designs with clear documentation.
Prototype Development & Validation
- Build and validate prototypes; conduct structural checks and basic functional tests under Lead Engineers supervision.
Cross-Functional Support
- Collaborate with Concept Design, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams to align technical details with design intent and production capabilities.
Supplier & Factory Interface
- Coordinate with factory teams for issue resolution, material selection, and cost-effective engineering solutions.
Process & Cost Awareness
- Support design-to-cost initiatives by optimizing materials, fittings, and processes.
Continuous Improvement
- Suggest process improvements, maintain libraries of joinery standards, and assist in updating engineering best practices.
Must-Have Qualifications & Skills
- Wood-Panel Engineering Exposure: 58 years in furniture/cabinetry/wood-based manufacturing. Experience with particleboard, MDF, plywood, and knock-down joinery.
- CAD/CAM Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD, PYTHA, SolidWorks (or similar) for creating engineering packages and BOMs.
- Product Development: Hands-on experience in taking designs from concept through to production handover.
- Materials & Hardware: Familiarity with furniture fittings (Hettich, Hfele, etc.), lamination processes, and tolerance management.
- Collaboration: Ability to work closely with design, factory, and vendor teams.
- Execution-Oriented: Strong in detailing, documentation, and timely delivery of outputs.
Good to Have
- Exposure to Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma tools.
- Experience with PLM/ERP systems for BOM management.
- Knowledge of sustainability standards and eco-friendly material choices.
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Furniture/Wood Technology, Industrial Design Engineering, or related discipline.
