Design & Drafting Manager

Job Description

• Team Management: Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of designers, drafters, and technicians
• Provide guidance, support, and training to ensure that team members meet project requirements, deadlines, and quality standards
• Project Planning and Coordination: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements, scope, and objectives
• Develop design plans, timelines, and resource allocation strategies to support project goals
• Design Development: Oversee the development of technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and models using computer-aided design (CAD) software and other design tools
• Ensure that designs meet industry standards, client specifications, and regulatory requirements
• Quality Assurance: Establish and enforce quality control processes and standards to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of design documentation
• Review and approve drawings, models, and specifications before release to clients or production teams
• Resource Management: Allocate resources, including personnel, software licenses, and hardware, to support design and drafting activities
• Monitor workload distribution, productivity levels, and project timelines to optimize resource utilization and efficiency
• Technology and Innovation: Stay informed about advancements in design technology, CAD software, and drafting techniques
• Identify opportunities to enhance departmental processes, workflows, and capabilities through the adoption of new tools and technologies
• Interdepartmental Collaboration: Foster collaboration and communication between the design and drafting department and other functional areas within the organization, such as engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and sales
• Facilitate cross-functional coordination to address project requirements and resolve design-related issues
• Client Communication: Interface with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and vendors to clarify design specifications, address technical inquiries, and resolve design-related issues
• Ensure that client expectations are met and that design solutions align with project objectives
