Collection Executive

Job Description

Objective:

To recruit proactive and results-oriented Collection Specialists with a strong understanding of ethical debt collection practices and the Indian financial market. We seek individuals who can effectively manage overdue accounts, minimize delinquency, and maintain positive relationships with customers while achieving collection targets.

Key Requirements & Desired Attributes: Experience:

• Minimum 1-3 years of experience in debt collection, preferably within the NBFC, microfinance, or banking sector in India.
• Proven track record of successfully recovering overdue payments.
• Experience with skip tracing and locating debtors is advantageous.
• Familiarity with collection software and CRM systems is a plus.

Skills & Competencies:

* Communication Excellence:

• Fluent in English (written and spoken): Essential for professional communication, documentation, and reporting.
• Proficiency in Hindi (written and spoken): Highly desirable for effective communication with a broad range of debtors across India.
• Knowledge of regional Indian languages (e.g., Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada) is a significant advantage.
• Negotiation & Persuasion Skills: Ability to negotiate payment plans and terms, persuade debtors to fulfill their obligations while maintaining a professional and respectful demeanor.
• Empathy & Conflict Resolution: Skill in understanding customer's financial difficulties, de-escalating tense conversations, and finding mutually agreeable solutions.
• Persistence & Resilience: Ability to remain focused and persistent in pursuing collections while handling rejections and difficult conversations.
• Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Capacity to analyze debtor situations, identify potential payment solutions, and strategize collection approaches.
• Ethical Practices & Compliance: Strong understanding and commitment to adhering to all relevant debt collection laws, regulations, and ethical guidelines in India.
• Documentation & Record Keeping: Meticulous attention to detail in recording all collection activities, communications, and agreements accurately.
• Time Management & Organization: Ability to manage a portfolio of overdue accounts efficiently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
• Basic Computer Proficiency: Comfortable using MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and collection/CRM software.

Understanding of the Indian Collection Landscape:

• Awareness of common reasons for default within the Indian NBFC context (e.g., economic hardship, seasonal income fluctuations, unforeseen expenses).
• Knowledge of the socio-economic factors that may influence repayment patterns.
• Familiarity with local collection practices and customer expectations.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
• Specific training or certifications in debt collection or negotiation are a plus.
