Position Title: Cloud FinOps

Exp : 3 to 8 Years

Role Overview

The Cloud FinOps role is responsible for driving financial accountability, cost transparency, and optimization of cloud usage across the organization. This role ensures efficient cloud spend through governance, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and cross-functional collaboration, while enabling scalable and cost-effective cloud adoption.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Responsibilities

• Monitor, analyze, and manage cloud costs across AWS and/or GCP environments
• Implement and drive cost optimization strategies (rightsizing, reservations, savings plans, etc.)
• Track budgets, forecasts, and cost variances
• Maintain cost allocation frameworks and tagging standards

2. Financial Governance & Reporting

• Develop monthly dashboards and executive-level reports
• Provide actionable cost insights to stakeholders
• Implement and manage chargeback/showback models

3. Cloud Governance & Optimization

• Define and enforce FinOps policies, controls, and guardrails
• Implement automation for cost monitoring, alerts, and anomaly detection
• Review vendor billing and ensure cost accuracy

Managerial & Operational Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Cloud Engineering, Application, Finance, Procurement, and Business teams
• Act as a trusted advisor for cloud cost optimization and value realization
• Support governance forums and cloud financial decision-making
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes
• Maintain documentation, SOPs, and FinOps playbooks
• Drive awareness and training on cost-efficient cloud usage

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Reduction and avoidance of cloud costs without impacting performance
• Accuracy of cloud budgets and forecasts
• Percentage of cloud spend properly tagged and allocated
• Adoption rate of FinOps best practices across teams
• Improved visibility and transparency of cloud costs
• Continuous improvement in cost efficiency metrics

Qualifications & Skills

• Strong understanding of AWS and/or GCP pricing models and services
• Hands-on experience with FinOps and cloud cost management tools (e.g., native tools, third-party platforms)
• Strong financial, analytical, and cost modeling skills
• Advanced proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets; Power BI or Tableau preferred
• Understanding of cloud architectures, containers, and DevOps practices
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills

• Experience
• 4to8 years of overall IT / Technology Finance experience
• 2to4 years of experience in Cloud FinOps or Cloud Cost Management
• Experience in enterprise-scale or regulated environments preferred

Education & Certifications

• Bachelors degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Finance, or related field
• FinOps Certified Practitioner / Professional – preferred
• Cloud certifications (AWS / GCP) – preferred
