Job Title: Chief Operating Officer (COO) Animal Welfare
Location: Mulund, Mumbai
Travel: Pan-India travel required
Sector Preference: Development / NGO sector experience preferred
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and mission-driven Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead the operational strategy and execution for our Animal Welfare vertical. The COO will be responsible for overseeing overall operations, financial performance, and program delivery, ensuring sustainability, measurable impact, and operational excellence.
This role requires a dynamic leader who can effectively balance program impact with financial discipline, including managing Profit & Loss (P&L), while scaling animal welfare initiatives across India.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership
- Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with the organizations mission in animal welfare.
- Collaborate with the leadership team to scale programs, partnerships, and nationwide impact.
- Identify opportunities for growth, innovation, and operational efficiency.
Operational Management
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the Animal Welfare vertical.
- Ensure effective execution of animal rescue, rehabilitation, and welfare programs.
- Design and implement SOPs and systems for scalable and efficient operations.
Financial Management
- Manage Profit & Loss (P&L) for the vertical, ensuring financial sustainability.
- Monitor budgets, optimize costs, and strengthen revenue streams (grants, donations, partnerships).
- Lead financial planning, forecasting, and performance tracking.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and manage cross-functional teams across multiple locations.
- Build and nurture a high-performance, mission-driven culture.
- Strengthen leadership capabilities across teams.
Partnerships & Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain partnerships with government bodies, NGOs, donors, and corporate stakeholders.
- Represent the organization at national forums, conferences, and key meetings.
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure adherence to statutory regulations and compliance frameworks relevant to NGOs and animal welfare.
- Maintain transparency through robust reporting systems and impact measurement frameworks.
Candidate Profile
- Experience: 10–20 years in leadership roles, preferably within NGOs, development sector, social enterprises, or mission-driven organizations.
- Proven experience managing Profit & Loss (P&L) for a vertical, business unit, or program.
- Strong expertise in operations, financial management, and program execution.
- Experience in scaling operations across multiple locations.
- Exposure to animal welfare, environmental, or social impact sectors is an added advantage.
- Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and strategic thinking abilities.
Education
- Master’s degree in Management / Public Policy / Social Work / Development Studies / Business Administration preferred.
