Job Description
Role: Manager (EHS)
Designation: AGM/DGM
Job Profile
Responsible for leading and overseeing the implementation of all Environment, Health, and Safety policies, programs, and practices across multiple sites or facilities within a designated geographical
zone. The role ensures legal compliance, drives safety culture, reduces risks, and supports operational excellence through proactive EHS leadership.
Key responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
Develop and implement zonal EHS strategy aligned with corporate goals.
Lead zone-wide EHS initiatives, campaigns, and performance improvement plans. Serve as the primary EHS advisor to zonal leadership and site heads.
Compliance & Risk Management :
Ensure 100% compliance with local, state, and national EHS regulations.
Conduct periodic audits and risk assessments across zone operations.
Ensure timely reporting and closure of non-conformities and legal requirements.
Incident Management :
Oversee investigation of incidents, accidents, and near-misses.
Ensure root cause analysis and implementation of corrective/preventive actions. Monitor trends and recommend measures to reduce incidents and improve safety.
Training & Awareness:
Plan and monitor EHS training programs, inductions, and refresher sessions. Drive employee engagement through safety awareness and behavioural safety programs.
Data Management & Reporting :
Ensure accurate and timely submission of Daily/Monthly EHS reports.
Use digital tools (e.g., EHS App) to manage checklists, permits, training, and audits. Analyze safety data to track performance and suggest improvements.
Team Leadership:
Manage and mentor EHS officers, coordinators, and site safety teams in the zone. Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback and development plans.
Key Metrics/KPIs
TRIR (Total Recordable Incident Rate) and LTIFR
Compliance audit scores
Number of incidents/near misses
Training completion rates
Permit turnaround time
Corrective action closure rate
Qualification:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science, or Environmental Studies (preferred)
Diploma/PG Diploma in Industrial Safety (mandatory as per Factories Act)
Experience:
15+ years in EHS roles, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership position
Experience in multi-site or zonal safety management preferred
Preferred. Skills:
Strong knowledge of EHS laws, ISO 45001/14001 standards
Familiarity with digital EHS platforms and reporting tools
Leadership and team management
Analytical and problem-solving ability
Strong communication and presentation skills
