Job Purpose
1) Job Purpose
Finishing Line Supervisor role is to oversee and manage finishing line operations to ensure
products are completed safely, on time, and to required quality standards, while effectively
leading the workforce and optimizing productivity.
The supervisor is accountable for daytoday execution of finishing activities, ensuring
smooth workflow, compliance with safety and quality requirements, and achievement of
production targets through proper coordination of people, machines, and materials.

are costly and recovery options are limited. The job s challenges require a balance of technical
understanding, people management, discipline enforcement, and quick decisionmaking to ensure
finished products are safe, compliant, and customerready.
1. Maintaining Quality at the Final Stage: Balancing speed and output while ensuring zero
defects and adherence to quality standards.
2. Managing Manpower Variability: Ensuring consistent productivity and discipline despite
workforce variability.
3. Meeting Tight Despatch and Production Targets: Aligning manpower, material availability,
and machine readiness to meet committed timelines without compromising quality or safety.
4. Handling Equipment Breakdowns and Process Bottlenecks: Managing downtime, reassigning
tasks quickly, and coordinating with maintece to minimize output loss.
5. Ensuring Safety and Housekeeping Compliance: Enforcing safety rules and 5S standards
consistently while sustaining productivity.
6. Communication and Coordination Gaps: Preventing miscommunication that can lead to
wrong packing, incorrect quantities, or shipment errors.
7. Managing Change and Continuous Improvement: Gaining operator buyin and maintaining
stability during transition periods.
4) Key Result Areas/Accountabilities:

Production Output Schedule Adherence
Allocate manpower effectively based on skill and workload. Monitor hourly/daily production against targets. Adjust workflow to compensate for upstream delays. Escalate critical issues impacting output in a timely manner. Ensure smooth shift handovers with clear status updates.
Quality Assurance ZeroDefect Output
Enforce SOPs and quality checkpoints at finishing stages. Coordinate with Quality team for inspections and corrective actions. Identify root causes of rejections and rework. Ensure proper packing, labelling, and documentation. Prevent mixing, damage, or incorrect dispatch of material.
Safety, Health Housekeeping
(5S) Enforce use of PPE, hands free tools and safe work practices. Conduct regular safety checks and toolcondition verification. Ensure clean, organized, and clutterfree finishing area. Immediately address unsafe conditions or behaviours. Report and investigate nearmisses and incidents.
Manpower Management Discipline
Manage attendance, punctuality, and shift discipline. Train operators on finishing processes, quality, and safety. Handle conflicts and behavioural issues professionally. Motivate team to achieve targets without compromising standards. Support skill development and multiskilling initiatives.
Machine Equipment Utilization
Monitor machine performance and downtime. Coordinate with Maintece for breakdown resolution. Ensure operators follow correct operating procedures. Prevent misuse or overloading of equipment. Support preventive maintece activities.
Material Handling Loss Control Ensure correct handling, stacking, and storage of finished goods. Monitor scrap, rejection, and rework levels. Identify loss causes and implement corrective actions. Ensure FIFO and traceability practices are followed. Control overuse or misuse of packing materials.
Coordination Communication
Communicate daily production status to management. Coordinate with Production, Quality, Maintece, Stores, and Dispatch. Communicate priority changes clearly to the team. Maintain proper shift reports and records. Support audits, inspections, and reviews.
Continuous Improvement Compliance
Participate in kaizen, costreduction, and efficiency initiatives. Implement new SOPs and process changes. Provide feedback for process and layout improvements. Ensure compliance with ISO, safety, and customer audit requirements. Maintain required documentation and records.
