Comaea Consulting is an international Executive Search and Talent Advisory firm. We are hiring a key position for a new client - a MNC in the shipping industry with a solid presence worldwide. Senior Buyer / Buyer (Based in Andheri) THE ORGANIZATION : As a Buyer, you will manage procurement activities related to vessel operations, ensuring timely acquisition of goods and services. You will collaborate with various departments, vessels, and category leads to support operational needs, oversee vendor management, negotiate contracts, and ensure cost-effective purchasing while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance. Role & responsibilities Execute daily procurement tasks ensuring the prompt and safe delivery of items requested by vessels. Oversee the entire procurement cycle from sourcing and negotiating to issuing Purchase Orders (POs). Adhere to procurement policies while coordinating with Category Leads on pricing and delivery matters. Supervise and manage international shipments ensuring timely logistics to meet operational requirements. Resolve supply chain issues raised by vessels, providing clear and direct feedback to both Captains and Superintendents. Monitor and report essential metrics to ensure cost efficiency and maintain precise procurement documentation. Evaluate market conditions and supplier performance to make well-informed purchasing decisions. Work closely with internal teams to anticipate needs and drive continuous improvements in service quality and operational efficiency. Preferred candidate profile Bachelors degree in Maritime, Supply Chain Management, or related fields. Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, preferably within the shipping, marine, or heavy industries. Proven ability to manage high-volume requisitions and ensure timely deliveries. Exposure to logistics and shipping regulations, including customs and compliance. Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels. Ability to handle multiple tasks within limited timeframes in a structured manner. Strong analytical and commercial skills, focusing on cost-effective solutions while understanding the broader business context.
