Job Title: Solaris Administrator

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Solaris Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimize Oracle Solaris servers. The ideal candidate will have expertise in system administration, performance tuning, storage management, security, and troubleshooting in enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and upgrade Oracle Solaris servers.
• Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity.
• Perform operating system patching and upgrades.
• Configure and manage:
• User accounts and permissions
• File systems
• Storage volumes
• Swap space
• Network interfaces
• Administer storage technologies including:
• ZFS
• Solaris Volume Manager
• SAN and NAS storage
• Configure and troubleshoot:
• DNS
• NFS
• SSH
• TCP/IP networking
• Monitor system logs and resolve hardware and software issues.
• Perform backup and recovery procedures.
• Implement security hardening and compliance standards.
• Create shell scripts to automate routine administrative tasks.
• Support high-availability and disaster recovery environments.
• Work with application, database, storage, and network teams.
• Maintain technical documentation and standard operating procedures.

Required Skills

• Strong experience with Oracle Solaris 10 and/or Solaris 11
• Good understanding of:
• UNIX/Linux administration
• Shell scripting (KornShell/Bash)
• Networking (TCP/IP, DNS, NTP, SSH)
• File systems (especially ZFS)
• LVM concepts
• Experience with:
• System monitoring tools
• Backup solutions
• Performance tuning
• User and security administration
• Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as Oracle VM Server for SPARC (LDOMs) or Solaris Zones.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Oracle Solaris certifications (preferred).
• Experience with enterprise storage and clustering.
• Familiarity with Linux administration.
• Experience with IT service management tools such as ServiceNow.
