Job Summary:

The Senior Manager - Human Resources will be responsible for overseeing and managing all HR functions across the retail operations in Mumbai. This role requires a strategic thinker who can handle the complete employee lifecycle, drive organizational development, and ensure compliance with labor regulations, while maintaining robust HR Operations and partnering with the business through regular field/branch visits to achieve commercial goals.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic HR & Business Partnering:

• Act as a strategic HR Business Partner to senior leadership, aligning HR strategy with the overall business objectives and retail operational needs.
• Drive and support organizational change management initiatives.
• Analyze HR metrics (e.g., turnover, engagement, productivity) to identify trends and develop proactive solutions.

2. HR Operations, Compliance & Field Management (New Focus Area):

• HR Operations Management:
• Oversee the efficiency and accuracy of core HR processes, including HRIS management, employee documentation, background verification, and maintaining comprehensive employee records (physical and digital).
• Streamline and automate operational workflows to enhance service delivery to employees and managers.
• Ensure accurate and timely processing of full and final settlements.
• Branch/Store Support & Visits:
• Conduct regular and mandated visits to retail stores/branches across the Mumbai region (and potentially surrounding areas) to gain on-the-ground insights.
• Directly engage with Store Managers and front-line staff to understand employee concerns, assess compliance, and measure the effectiveness of HR policies and initiatives.
• Provide on-the-spot coaching and support to field leadership on people management issues and HR best practices.
• Statutory Compliance & Audits:
• Mandatory: Must be proficient in handling all aspects of statutory compliance and labor laws (e.g., Factories Act, Shops and Establishments Act, PF, ESIC, etc.) applicable to the retail sector.
• Coordinate with external consultants and internal teams to prepare for and manage HR and compliance audits.

3. Talent Acquisition & Onboarding:

• Oversee end-to-end recruitment, ensuring a steady pipeline of quality talent, particularly for critical retail roles.
• Develop and manage the onboarding process to ensure successful integration into the company culture and operations.

4. Performance Management & Development:

• Manage and refine the company's performance management system (goal setting, appraisals).
• Identify training needs and coordinate/deliver learning and development programs tailored to enhance retail management and staff capabilities.

5. Employee Relations & C&B:

• Serve as the primary point of contact for employee grievances, disciplinary matters, and conflict resolution, ensuring fair and consistent policy application.
• Manage the annual compensation review process, ensuring market competitiveness and internal equity.

Candidate Profile & Competencies:

• Deep knowledge of the retail business model and its unique HR challenges.
• Demonstrable proficiency in managing high-volume HR operations and compliance.
• Strong leadership and people management skills, coupled with excellent stakeholder management and mobility required for field visits.
• Proven ability to operate independently and take ownership of the entire HR function.
