We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Developer with proven expertise in designing, developing, and deploying RESTful APIs using Node.js and Express.js . The ideal candidate must have experience building scalable backend services from scratch while adhering to industry best practices. The role involves performing data operations using SQL databases such as SQLite or MySQL and ensuring the performance, security, and reliability of backend services. Key Responsibilities Design and Development of RESTful APIs Architect, develop, and deploy scalable and efficient RESTful APIs using Node.js and Express.js . Follow industry best practices for API design, including RESTful principles and clean coding standards. Implement data operations such as CRUD operations using SQL-based databases like SQLite or MySQL. Full Development Lifecycle Management Take ownership of API development projects from conceptualization to deployment. Conduct requirements analysis, technical design, implementation, testing, and deployment of backend systems. Ensure all services are robust, secure, and optimized for performance and scalability. Testing and Quality Assurance Write unit tests and integration tests to ensure the reliability of APIs. Perform debugging, troubleshoot performance bottlenecks, and optimize backend processes. Database Management Design efficient and normalized database schemas in MySQL or SQLite . Write optimized SQL queries to ensure data integrity, consistency, and performance. Handle database migration and version control as part of the application lifecycle. Deployment and Maintenance Deploy backend applications on cloud or on-premises servers while ensuring stability and uptime. Perform regular monitoring, logging, and proactive maintenance to address issues. Document APIs, database structures, and deployment workflows for reference. Code and Architecture Best Practices Follow software development best practices, including version control, CI/CD integration, and clean code principles. Ensure code quality through regular reviews, refactoring, and adherence to architectural standards. Collaboration Collaborate closely with frontend developers, project managers, and other stakeholders to define and refine API requirements. Contribute to system architecture discussions and provide technical expertise. Assist team members by mentoring and sharing knowledge to foster a collaborative environment. Qualifications Education: Bachelor s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience as a backend developer. Strong experience in Node.js and Express.js for RESTful API development. Proven experience in designing and deploying backend services from scratch . Solid understanding of relational databases, including experience with SQLite or MySQL . Technical Skills Proficiency in backend development using Node.js and Express.js . Strong SQL skills, including database schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning (SQLite/MySQL). Experience in designing clean, scalable, and reusable API architectures . Knowledge of modern development best practices such as: Code versioning with Git . Writing clean, maintainable, and testable code. Implementing unit tests and integration tests using frameworks like Jest or Mocha . Familiarity with API documentation tools like Swagger/OpenAPI . Knowledge of security best practices for RESTful APIs, such as authentication, authorization, and data validation. Hands-on experience deploying backend services to servers or cloud platforms. Soft Skills Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Ability to work independently, take ownership of projects, and deliver solutions on time. Proactive, self-motivated, and detail-oriented mindset. Team player with a collaborative approach to work. Nice to Have Experience working with containerization technologies like Docker . Knowledge of CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins). Familiarity with other backend frameworks or tools such as Sequelize ORM . Experience in performance optimization of backend systems.
