Job Description
At Nido Automation, we are looking to expand our team with a talented Mechanical Engineer to support the design, development, and deployment of cutting-edge automation, robotics, sortation, DWS (Dimensioning, Weighing, and Scanning), and warehousing systems. Key Roles and Responsibilities: Design and develop mechanical components for automation systems, robotics, material handling solutions, and warehousing systems. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (electrical, software, robotics, control systems) to create integrated mechanical solutions that enhance overall system performance. Conduct Structural and Thermal Analysis to ensure the mechanical design meets required specifications, considering safety, efficiency, and durability. Create and Validate Prototypes for mechanical systems, components, and assemblies. Ensure System Integration between mechanical components and other system elements (e.g., robotics, control systems) for optimal performance. Support Testing and Validation of systems, ensuring all mechanical parts work cohesively with the overall system, and meet quality standards. Provide Technical Support during installation, maintenance, and after-sales, focusing on mechanical issues to ensure systems operate effectively. Develop Documentation for mechanical designs, assembly instructions, and troubleshooting procedures. Work on Project Management, helping to manage timelines, resources, and team coordination to ensure on-time delivery of mechanical solutions. Customer Support and Training for understanding mechanical system functionality and best practices. Perform engineering work in Design optimization, development, and documentation. Conceptualization, designing (using SolidWorks or manual techniques), tooling, prototype development, testing and evaluation of parts. Conduct studies to determine the feasibility, costs, or performance benefits of new mechatronic Systems/Subsystems. Preparing Design FMEA for Critical Functions. Cost Optimization using appropriate Value Engineering concepts within a defined R&D budget. Teamwork with suppliers and inter departments (quality, purchase, Maintenance, production, sales etc.) during the design phase, prototyping phase as well as the production phase. Work closely with the procurement team, and vendors for continuous improvement in the existing products by scouting alternate design as well as manufacturing process. Development of designs/features for product quality improvements, cost saving, import substitution etc. Directs appropriate support for Operations, Manufacturing and Quality functions within the organization Work closely with the Operations team to understand scope for continuous improvement in the existing products Adhere to and support company Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability Policies. Prepare, maintain, and provide a variety of reports/documents as required or upon request. Releasing Detailed Designs & BOM for Manufacturing. To be successful in this role you will have superior planning, problem solving. Operating in a fastmoving and sometimes ambiguous environment you will work autonomously taking full control and responsibility for completing departmental objectives. Educational Background: Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in mechanical design or automation systems are a plus. Masters degree is a plus but not mandatory. Passionate self-learners with hands-on experience or personal projects will be highly valued. Experience: 2-7 years of experience in mechanical engineering, industrial automation, robotics, or related fields. Technical Skills: Proficiency in mechanical design using CAD tools like SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Design Calculations, (Gear and Shaft Design, Bearing and Coupling Design, Mechanical Power Transmission, Kinematic Analysis, Dynamic Analysis, Stress Concentration Factor, Factor of Safety, Displacement, Stress, and Strain Calculation) Manufacturing Techniques. Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and other mechanical simulation software. Understanding of mechanical systems design, including material selection, structural analysis, and system integration. Familiarity with robotic systems, automation platforms, and control systems is a plus. Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot and optimize mechanical systems. In time delivery of design solutions. Project Management: Ability to handle multiple mechanical projects, track milestones, and deliver results on time. PMP certification is a plus. Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members, clients, and stakeholders.
