Job Description
Job Title: Head Quality/Quality Manager Fabrication & Welding Manufacturing. Location: Pune. Reports To: COO/Plant Head. Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Quality Manager to oversee the quality assurance and control operations within our fabrication manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in welding technologies and be proficient in maintaining high standards of quality in welding processes, materials, and overall product fabrication. The role will also require ensuring compliance with international standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 3834-2, and EN 15082-2 Class-1 for welding and fabrication processes. Key Responsibilities: Quality Management System (QMS): Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure alignment with ISO 9001, ISO 3834-2, and EN 15082-2 Class-1 standards. Conduct regular audits of the QMS and oversee corrective actions for non-conformances. Provide guidance and leadership to the quality assurance team to ensure effective implementation of quality protocols. Welding and Fabrication Standards: Supervise and enforce welding quality control processes, ensuring adherence to the highest standards in line with ISO 3834-2 and EN 15082-2 Class-1. Ensure that all welding processes, qualifications, and certifications are fully compliant with international standards. Review welding procedures, material certifications, and inspection reports to maintain product integrity. Inspection and Testing: Oversee the inspection and testing of welded parts and fabricated structures to ensure they meet specifications and regulatory requirements. Implement quality inspection techniques and testing methods such as visual inspection, ultrasonic testing (UT), radiographic testing (RT), and other NDT methods. Analyze and report the results of inspections and tests to detect deviations or defects in the manufacturing process. Supplier and Material Quality Control: Coordinate with suppliers to ensure raw materials and welding consumables meet quality standards. Conduct supplier quality assessments and performance reviews to maintain supplier compliance with ISO 9001 and other relevant standards. Compliance and Certifications: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations, including ISO 9001, ISO 3834-2, and EN 15082-2 Class-1. Prepare and facilitate third-party audits for ISO 9001, ISO 3834-2, and other relevant certifications. Ensure the company maintains certifications and continuously meets or exceeds the standards set forth by these bodies. 6. Continuous Improvement and Training: Lead continuous improvement initiatives in quality management and welding processes. Conduct training programs for welders, inspectors, and production teams to ensure adherence to quality standards and to promote a culture of excellence. Monitor performance metrics and identify areas for improvement in the fabrication and welding process. Customer Interaction and Feedback: Collaborate with customers to understand their quality expectations and ensure product deliveries meet their requirements. Handle quality-related customer complaints and feedback, implementing corrective actions where necessary. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field. A Master’s degree is a plus. Minimum of 7 years of experience in a quality management role within a fabrication or welding manufacturing environment. In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with ISO 9001, ISO 3834-2, and EN 15082-2 Class-1 welding and fabrication standards. Strong expertise in welding processes, including various welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, and others, with proven experience in welding procedure specification (WPS) and welder qualification procedures. Familiarity with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods and ability to interpret results (e.g., UT, RT, PT, MT). Proven ability to lead audits, internal and external, and manage customer expectations for quality assurance. Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills. Preferred Skills: Certifications in welding (e.g., AWS CWI, CSWIP) or Quality Management (e.g., Six Sigma, ISO Lead Auditor).
