Job Title: Digital Asset Management (DAM) Librarian
Role Summary
The Digital Asset Management Manager is responsible for the organization, accessibility, and lifecycle of all digital content. This role ensures that teams can find and trust assets through established standards for metadata, taxonomy, and system architecture. You will manage the transition of a high-volume content environment into a structured library that scales with the business.
Core Responsibilities
Governance & Standards
- Create and implement digital asset standards for storage, file naming, and versioning.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure all uploads meet established technical and brand requirements.
- Enforce quality control protocols to maintain a consistent environment across departments.
Architecture & Taxonomy
- Design the DAM folder structure and asset hierarchies to match team workflows.
- Build and maintain a global taxonomy and keyword strategy to improve search accuracy.
- Adjust the system architecture periodically to accommodate content growth and new asset types.
Metadata & Data Integrity
- Define required metadata fields and tagging rules for different asset categories.
- Oversee the application of tags and keywords to ensure assets remain searchable.
- Perform routine data cleanup to resolve inconsistent tags and remove duplicate files.
Lifecycle Management
- Manage assets from initial ingestion through active use, expiration, and archival.
- Develop a schedule for refreshing or removing redundant and outdated content.
- Monitor asset rights and usage permissions to ensure compliance.
Support & Training
- Assist internal teams with complex asset placement and retrieval tasks.
- Lead onboarding sessions to train staff on system navigation and governance rules.
- Serve as the primary contact for troubleshooting and system optimization.
Success Indicators
- A measurable reduction in the time required for users to locate specific assets.
- High alignment between uploaded assets and the defined metadata schema.
- A consistent ratio of active-to-archived assets, preventing system bloat.
Experience & Skills
- Experience managing digital libraries or content operations in an enterprise environment.
- Proficiency with DAM software and an understanding of metadata standards (IPTC, XMP, Dublin Core).
- A logical approach to categorization and a focus on data accuracy.
- The ability to explain technical governance rules to non-technical users.
Shifts: 5 days working (PST) hours
Hybrid/WFH
