Position - Sr. Database Administrator

Grade - Assistant Manager / Deputy Manager

Location - Mumbai

Reporting to Assistant Vice President Information Technology

Graduate (B.E/ B.Tech/BCA or equivalent)

Domain Knowledge Competencies

Strong expertise in SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL database administration, including installation and configuration.

Hands-on experience in performance tuning, query optimization, and database monitoring.

Good understanding of High Availability (HA), Disaster Recovery (DR), backup & restore strategies.

Proficient in database security, indexing, and writing efficient T-SQL queries, procedures, and triggers.

Position

Objective / Responsibilities

Install, configure, upgrade, and administer SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL databases.

Manage database configurations including storage, memory, and network settings.

Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning and optimization techniques.

Analyze and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and functions.

Design and implement database structures, including tables, indexes, constraints, views, and schemes.

Plan and execute backup and restore strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.

Implement and manage High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions.

Perform data migration, refresh, and synchronization across environments.

Conduct proactive monitoring of database workloads and ensure system health.

Develop capacity planning and benchmarking methodologies.

Ensure database security, including access control, encryption, and hardening practices.

Automate routine database maintenance and administrative tasks.

Monitor and manage database jobs, sessions, and scheduled tasks.

Generate and analyze performance reports (e.g., session traces, AWR/ADDM).

Review database changes and support deployment processes.

Collaborate with developers to build scalable and high-performing applications.

Support stakeholders on ad-hoc requirements, tools, and database-related projects.

Ensure clear and effective communication with onshore/offshore teams for timely issue resolution.

Perform database health checks and continuous improvement initiatives.

Work independently while ensuring alignment with team and organizational goals.
