Role & responsibilities

• Verify test requisitions by accurately comparing patient and test information.
• Identify and verify patients using approved identification protocols.
• Collect blood specimens through venipuncture and fingerstick techniques during home visits.
• Maintain specimen integrity by strictly following aseptic techniques, departmental procedures, and isolation protocols.
• Label, track, and document collected specimens by initialing, dating, and recording collection times.
• Maintain daily logs and tallies of specimens collected.
• Perform bleeding time tests when required and accurately enter results into the Test Requisition Form (TRF).
• Handle and transport specimens safely to ensure accurate laboratory testing.
• Resolve unusual or unclear test orders by coordinating with physicians, pathologists, nursing staff, or reference laboratories.
• Escalate unresolved issues to supervisors and return incomplete orders to the originator for clarification.
• Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by complying with safety standards, universal precautions, and legal regulations.
• Keep required inventory stocked in the collection kit and maintain proper inventory records.
• Inform clients promptly about any delays in sample processing or report delivery.
• Participate in Continuous Medical Education (CME) programs to update professional knowledge and skills.
• Adhere strictly to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure smooth workflow and efficient operations.
• Contribute positively to the organizations reputation by taking ownership of responsibilities and supporting new initiatives.
• Promote a patient-centric approach while serving and protecting the community.
