Job Description
1. Schedule and coordinate appointments for radiology examinations, including X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, ultrasounds, and other imaging procedures, ensuring efficient use of resources and timely access to services for patients.
2. Confirm appointments with patients, providing necessary instructions and information about preparation requirements and any specific considerations for each type of imaging study.
3. Coordinate patient check-in and registration for imaging appointments, ensuring accurate collection of demographic and insurance information.
4. Assist patients with completing consent forms, obtaining medical histories, and addressing any questions or concerns related to their imaging studies.
5. Communicate with referring physicians and healthcare providers to obtain necessary orders, clinical information, and prior imaging studies for comparison.
6. Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records (EMR) for radiology patients, including documentation of appointment details, imaging reports, and communication with referring providers.
7. Ensure compliance with medical record documentation standards, confidentiality regulations, and departmental policies.
8. Coordinate special imaging procedures and interventions, such as biopsies, fluoroscopy, and interventional radiology procedures, by scheduling appointments, arranging equipment and supplies, and coordinating with radiologists and other specialists.
9. Provide support and assistance to patients undergoing imaging procedures, ensuring their comfort, safety, and adherence to instructions before, during, and after the exam.
10. Perform various administrative tasks, such as answering phones, responding to inquiries, filing paperwork, and maintaining cleanliness and organization of the radiology reception area.
11. Assist radiologists and technologists with documentation, image interpretation, and other clerical tasks to support efficient operation of the radiology department.
12. Coordinate follow-up care and additional imaging studies as needed, ensuring timely communication of results to patients and referring providers.
13. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, data collection activities, and process improvement projects within the radiology department, contributing to the enhancement of patient care processes and outcomes.
14. Identify opportunities for streamlining processes, improving patient satisfaction, and enhancing operational efficiency in collaboration with radiology leadership and staff.
